Sickness Insurance - Not exactly insurance, but we have medishare which is a christian healthcare sharing company. The most you should be paying out of pocket for this type of test is $250. I would even ask if there are additional discounts for prompt payment. This is at least how it happened to me with my son 4 years ago. I have bcbs and they always cover 80% of in network costs and they said the same for nipt (i’m 38). However, my husband had to have the genetic testing done through natera to rule out being a carrier for the same thing i am.

Basically i have to pay for my deductible amount up front over 4 months in cash. The drug may not be in the formulary or you may need to try a different drug before it will be covered (for ex have to try zofran before diclegis is covered).
